Amstrad returns to profit
Alex Mayhew-Smith Consumer electronics firm Amstrad has returned to profit in its interim results, earning ?4.1m compared to a pre-tax loss of ?900,000 in the same period last year. The improvement is due to a focus on digital satellite receivers and cable TV products, said the firm. Sales were lifted from ?30.9m to ?45.5m. Pictured is Amstrad’s latest ?99 Phone Book Databank which can store up to 500 phone numbers and has a full keypad. It comes with a credit card-sized portable organiser which also contains the stored phone numbers.
