Analog’s Sharc core
Steve Bush Analog Devices is to make its 32-bit floating point Sharc core available for license later this year. “The current, first generation, Sharc core is intermingled with its peripherals on-chip and cannot be extracted and used elsewhere,” said Jeff Channell, Analog’s UK sales manager. “The second generation Sharc core will be separate from its peripherals and re-usable.” Analog Devices already licenses its 16-bit DSP cores. “Mixed signal chips including the second-generation Sharc will be sampling in the fourth quarter of this year,” said Channell.
