Berg/Farnell in global interconnection deal

Berg/Farnell in global interconnection deal
Richard Wilson Connector manufacturer Berg Electronics has appointed catalogue distributor Farnell to be its global distributor for interconnection products. Farnell’s sister company, Newark, already sells $2m worth of Berg connectors in the US. This latest deal with Farnell gives Berg increased coverage in Europe, as well as Asia Pacific, through Farnell’s operations in Malaysia, Singapore and Hong Kong. This is Berg’s third major global deal with distributors. The company also has agreements with Arrow Electronics and Future Electronics to service the requirements of its volume OEM customers worldwide. Melvin Crane, Berg’s European distribution manager, said: “This agreement provides us with a straightforward route worldwide for design engineers requiring lower volumes of interconnect products for their prototype and development systems.” Farnell’s managing director-commercial, Lawrence Jackson, said that the Berg product line, in addition to those from Molex and Amp, meant that customers now have a one-stop shop worldwide without the need for large minimum order levels.
