Cellnet profits depress parent
Alex Mayhew-Smith A fall in profits for Cellnet has depressed interim results for parent company Securicor. Cellnet profits were brought down by the cost of switching its network from analogue to digital. Half year results for Securicor showed that pre-tax profit was down 19 per cent, to ?43.1m. The DTI blocked Securicor from selling its stake in Cellnet to BT in 1995 and City speculation has begun over the possible date of another attempt.
