Cirrus Logic appoints new CEO

Cirrus Logic has appointed a new CEO and says that it is close to selling its stake in a joint chip making venture set up with Lucent Technologies as part of its efforts to complete the restructuring of its business.
David French has been appointed CEO in addition to his current position as president and chief operating officer. French said that Cirrus is close to a deal with Lucent to unload its stake in the joint venture but would not say how much money the sale is expected to generate.
Cirrus is moving away from chip manufacture towards a fabless business model and it has been spinning off some business divisions. Cirrus expects its restructuring process to be completed by the end of March.
