Cool Pentiums
Steve Bush With the launch of Intel’s latest 233 and 266MHz Pentium II processors in mind, Fujitsu claims to have developed the world’s smallest and lightest cooling module for notebook PC processors. The device, called ?Cooler, has an extremely thin fan-equipped radiator linked to a heat pipe for channelling heat away from the microprocessor module. A centrifugal fan within a die cast venturi tube pulls out 10W for the 6.6mm thick module and 12W for the 7.6mm version. Intel’s portable Pentium II’s are mounted with 512kbyte of second-level cache on a ‘mini-cartridge’. This is said to be one sixth of the size of the desktop version.
