Alex Mayhew-Smith Motion Media, the videoconferencing company, has said customers’ product evaluation time has affected sales in 1998. Rex Thorne, chairman of Motion Media, said a longer than anticipated time is being taken by customers before they place orders with the firm. Despite the set back, sales more than doubled from ?600,000 in 1997 to ?1.3m. Losses before tax grew from ?1m to ?1.3m, a result of the cost of developing its products, setting up production and building sales channels. “We weren’t helped by problems with our manufacturing sub-contractor which we eventually replaced,” said Thorne.
