Defence group gets French fillip
Alex Mayhew-Smith Plans to create a pan-European military electronics group edged closer to realisation last week following the privatisation of the French military electronics group Thomson-CSF. State ownership of the business was diluted to 43 per cent and the company has entered talks with British Aerospace, GEC and Daimler Benz in its search for European partners. The move is part of the decision made by European leaders in the past six months to consolidate the European military industry to face the threat from giant US companies.
