Melanie Reynolds Fabless semiconductor company Emosyn has entered the smartcard market with two memory-based ICs. The Sciron Gold and Sciron Gold Lite family are designed to meet the requirements of health cards, among others. The smartcard industry is expected to pass two billion units per annum next year, said Grahame Lucas, Emosyns director of sales. ‘This industry requires specialised semiconductor devices from companies such as Emosyn who focus solely on smartcard applications,’ he added.
