Engineers called to play bug role
Richard Wilson The engineering community’s role in tackling the Year 2000 data change problem has been highlighted by the Engineering Council. Dr Alan Rudge, chairman of the Engineering Council has sent an open letter to all 38 professional institutions emphasising the role engineers can play in tackling data change problems, particularly in embedded systems. “Many engineers will already know about the problem and many of their organisations will have taken action, but a great many will not, and this is where the greatest concern must lie,” said Dr Rudge.
