Ericsson talks to 3V GSM mobile phone
Richard Ball Ericsson has revealed a dual-band GSM mobile phone featuring voice recognition technology. The T28 handset has voice dialling which responds to names in the 250-entry phone book. Powered at 3V, the phone’s standby and talk times are claimed to be 200 and 4.5 hours, respectively. The figures are also aided by the use of high capacity lithium polymer battery technology. Another feature is application profiling, where the phone’s function changes to suit the situation. For example, when connected to a vehicle hands-free kit, the ringing volume increases to compensate for traffic noise. In turn, calls are diverted to a fixed line when the phone is being charged. Just 15mm thick, the T28 weighs less than 100 grams.
