Panasonic has developed a range of colour video cameras using quarter inch charge-coupled devices. The self-contained cameras are aimed at applications such as videoconferencing, covert surveillance, door security and mobile telecoms. The circuit board measures just 22 x 26mm. It requires a 5V supply and delivers a standard analogue video signal at more than 330 lines resolution. The f2.0 lens works down to five lux, the company claims. Internal features include white balance, auto gain, electronic light control and internal sync. A larger version is available offering a greater choice of lenses, with viewing angles ranging from 44 to 115 degrees.
