Final Frontier
Richard Ball Belgian firm Frontier Design has launched a suite of tools that convert software algorithms written in ‘C’ code to VHDL or Verilog. Algorithms that run on general purpose processors or DSPs can operate much faster if implemented in dedicated silicon. Until now creating a hardware description of an algorithm has been difficult and prone to errors. The output of the tool can be synthesised for FPGAs or Asics.
