Dane-Elec Memory has signed an agreement with Hitachi Europe concerning the manufacturing and distribution of CompactFlash memory cards based on Hitachi’s flash products
Under the agreement, Dane-Elec Memory will manufacture 8-, 16-, 32- and 48Mbyte CompactFlash cards based on Hitachi’s 64/128Mbit flash devices and chip set.
The companies believe that with prices falling flash memory cards are already making an impact in applications such as digital cameras, handheld PCs , GPS receivers and telecoms systems. According to market researcher IDC, the flash card market, which was worth $375m 1997, should reach $1bn in the year 2000.
