David Manners The hunt for a flexible display is on in Japan with a dozen companies looking to tackle the problem. Flexible displays are regarded as an essential implementing technology for the wearable computer. At Sharp, the world’s leading maker of rigid flat panel displays, the feeling is that flexible displays are between three and five years’ away. Asked by which technological route the company would hope to achieve it, Sharp’s Nobuo Minamihori replied: “LCD is our core technology so that will be our route to flexible displays.”
