Framatone Connectors continues buying spree
Svetlana Josifovska French-based connector specialist Framatome Connectors International (FCI) is acquiring Nortel’s Canadian-based connector arm. This is the latest in a line of acquisitions that FCI had started a few weeks ago, including Malico in France and Canstar, which specialises in fibre optic connectors, in Canada. FCI also formed a joint venture with the Korean-based Il Heung specialising in automotive connectors. “There were rumours in the industry that we are going to be taken over. But that’s not true. It’s quite the opposite. We are acquiring others so we wanted to quash those rumours,” said Peter Maguire, general manager of FCI UK. The acquisitions are expected to contribute towards FCI’s expected turnover of around $1bn (?1.6bn) and bring the total number of employees to around 8,000.
