Fujitsu/Toshiba join to develop FCRAM
Steve Bush Fujitsu and Toshiba have teamed up to develop the fast-cycle RAM (FCRAM) technology originated at Fujitsu. Under the agreement, the two companies will develop 64, 128 and 256Mbit FCRAMs to be used in applications other than PC main-memory. These are expected to include graphics, information-related multimedia and buffer memory in printers and telecoms. FCRAM’s cycle time is claimed to be two to three times faster than conventional DRAM.
