Future to offer development support for Motorola processors

Future Electronics is the latest broadline distributor to increase the design support for its semiconductor products. A deal with embedded design tool firm Software Development Systems (SDS) will support Future’s ranges of 16- and 32- bit Motorola processors.
“We will be the first distributor to provide a complete, hardware and software, development solution to users of Motorola embedded processors,” said Fred Knowles, European technical director at Future Electronics.
The distributor will create a European team of support engineers for the Motorola processors and SDS’s SingleStep suite of software development tools.
“We believe that this integrated model is the next step in the evolution of the role of silicon distribution in the embedded market,” said Motorola’s European distribution manager Bob Cameron.
Broadline distributors are building a design-in capability in response to the competitive threat from specialist distributors. Earlier this month Avnet beefed up its Asic design service with an intellectual property deal also with Motorola.
