Glimmer of hope as manufacturing gloom bottoms out

Manufacturing declines may be bottoming out, according to the latest monthly order figures from the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply.
Manufacturing orders continued to decline in February but a slower rate than previous months and the survey indicated first signs of stronger demand in some sectors.
New orders were down, but the monthly fall in February was significantly weaker than at the height of order book losses last October. The signs of hope were most notable for export orders.
