Government considers Web-based job search
Our political correspondent
An electronic curriculum vitae database to match employers and would-be employees across the UK is being looked at by the Government.
A new Web site could hold details including exam results, personal interests and achievements, to put potential students in touch with colleges and firms. Employers looking for the right range of skills for their businesses would be able to trawl the database for the right candidates.
Colleges would target potential students who needed the skills they were offering. The scheme, drawn up by the Universities and Colleges Admissions Service, proposes a single “tariff” of exams, which would include A-Levels, vocational qualifications, Scottish Highers and the International and European Baccalaureates.
