Home networking gets it together
Tom Foremski Leading US electronics firms are supporting technology that promises inexpensive home networks. The goal is to use a home’s existing phone wiring to handle Ethernet-based data traffic at speeds as high as 1Mbit/s and eventually at 10Mbit/s. The Home Phoneline Networking Alliance (HomePNA) includes 3Com, AMD, AT&T Wireless, Compaq, Epigram, Hewlett-Packard, IBM, Intel, Lucent Technologies, Rockwell Semiconductor Systems and Tut Systems.
