IDT’s PC chip arm hits trouble
Richard Wilson Integrated Device Technology (IDT) is looking for outside help for its PC microprocessor business and may sell or spin-off the division. According to sources close to IDT, the company is facing problems in establishing its WinChip Intel-compatible microprocessors in the face of strong competition at the low end. It is the same problem faced by National Semiconductor which last week said it was leaving the PC microprocessor market. See story p12.
