Illinois Superconductor announces dramatic results from CDMA installation

Illinois Superconductor says that tests of its superconductor based SpectrumMaster Classic Filter CDMA based wireless cell site showed dramatic improvements in cell site range.
In tests in a rural installation beside a major highway, the cell site coverage area was expanded by 25 per cent and could be expanded to increase coverage by as much as 125 per cent under certain conditions. This means that wireless communications companies can save on cell site installations by being able to cover larger areas.
“A 25 per cent increase in cell site range and a dramatic reduction in handset transmit power levels should significantly increase cell site revenues for CDMA operators,” said Illinois Superconductor CEO Ted Laves. “Based upon these results, we believe that our filters can provide payback in less than two months after installation, which is certainly a cost effective investment for our customers.”
