Melanie Reynolds The UK electronics industry is no longer the most confident sector for recruitment, according to a Manpower survey. For the second quarter of 1998, 27 per cent of electronics industry employers questioned expect to increasing staffing levels while eight per cent predict job reductions. This 19 per cent aggregate is down ten per cent on the same period last year. The most buoyant industry is automotive with a 27 per cent aggregate. “While employers in the electronics industry are less optimistic, job prospects are above the national average,” said a Manpower spokesperson. The Manpower survey questioned 2,200 employers including the majority of the leading 100 UK companies.
