Low prices boost PC sales in Europe
Richard Ball PC sales in Europe increased by 20 per cent in the first quarter of 1999, bolstered by rising sales of low cost computers in the home market. The figures from market research firm Dataquest show that home PC shipments were up 57 per cent, compared with just nine per cent in the professional segment. “Ever lower prices, the allure of the Internet, and new cost saving channels are all driving consumer growth,” said Philip Williams, a senior analyst at Dataquest.
