Marconi Communications has taken a majority shareholding in the joint venture it formed eight years ago with TTC, the Czech Republic’s largest indigenous telecoms equipment manufacturer.
The move is designed to increase its penetration of the Czech and Slovak markets. “We already have excellent links with telecoms customers in the Czech Republic and we are rapidly building new trading relationships in Slovakia,” said Rod Smith, Marconi Communications’ managing director of sales.
In the last three years, contracts won by Marconi Communications in the region have included the supply of SDH transmission equipment worth more than ?51m to SPT Telecom, the Czech Republic’s national telecommunications operator.
