Memory and PC component distributor Datrontech has posted pre-tax profits for 1997 down by 24 per cent to ?6.1m, on a turnover up a third to ?275m. The reduced profits were attributed to the depressed memory and component markets and a one-off ?1.1m closure cost. Its value added networking business performed well, doubling sales to ?47.5m.
“Datrontech today is a far more balanced business with value added networking and services expected to produce more than 40 per cent of gross profits in 1998,” said Mark Mulford, CEO of Datrontech.
The company has spent the last year consolidating six UK business units into one head office and one warehouse. It has also added International Computer Products, to the eleven businesses it has acquired since 1994.
