MoD delays awarding ASTOR contract
Alex Mayhew-Smith The award of the MoD’s ?750m contract for an airborne stand-off radar system (ASTOR) has been delayed in its final stages. The delay is expected to be at least 12 working days, said John Palmer, Racal’s manager for surveillance systems. Racal is part of TeamASTOR, a consortium bidding for the contract. An announcement is now expected at the end of March, said Palmer, before the NATO body meets to discuss the Alliance Ground Surveillance project, expected to be linked to the UK’s choice for ASTOR.
