Motorola signs 0.18?m German deal
Richard Ball Motorola has signed a deal with Germany’s Institute of Semiconductor Physics (IHP) to develop 0.18?m wireless telecoms chips based on silicon germanium carbide technology. “The addition of carbon to silicon germanium significantly enhances performance and reduces cost,” said IHP director Abbas Ourmazd. As part of the agreement, Motorola will establish a technology centre in Frankfurt (Oder), Germany in order to work more closely with IHP.
