MPs wary of DERA cuts
Political correspondent MPs this week warned the government against cutting the financing of the Defence Evaluation and Research Agency and of the dangers of too high an element of privatisation of the key technical centre for Britain’s military. The all-party House of Commons Defence Committee said on Tuesday that the Treasury desire to cut costs appeared to be behind the government’s desire to change DERA’s status. It warned that the decline in research funding may turn out to be a false economy.
