National in DSP deal
Richard Wilson National Semiconductor has bought ComCore Semiconductor of the US to beef up its DSP products in communications applications. The $122m deal will give National access to ComCore’s sophisticated mathematical algorithms and DSP chip design technologies which will be integrated into a family of future products. “Networking and communications products are evolving rapidly,” said Robert Penn, general manager of National’s Communications and Consumer Group. “This acquisition will enable us to maintain a technology edge in today’s market and extend our ability to integrate more functionality in the higher performance, small geometry processes for next generation products.”
