NTL secures deals worth ?500m with broadcasters
Richard Wilson
Communications network operator NTL has signed extensions to its existing transmission contracts with the ITV companies and Channel 4 covering the remainder of the analogue TV era.
In deals worth a further ?500m to NTL it will provide analogue transmission to the broadcasters’ TV transmitters until at least 2012.
As the government has yet to give a definite end date for analogue TV transmissions, the duration of this contract indicates the broadcasters’ belief that they will need to continue to support analogue services for some time yet.
