Omron signs e-mech deal with Flint
Richard Wilson Omron has signed up Flint as a specialist distributor to address the growing need for the design-in of surface mount electromechanical parts. “It is still necessary to sell the concept of surface mount for e-mech parts,” said Ken Grubb, Flint marketing manager. “It is still a bit of a black art.” Omron’s distribution manager Michael O’Toole said the company is developing solid state relays and switches which are designed for surface mount package types from the start. ICs and passives have been available in surface mount for many years, but this has only happened for e-mech products in the last two years or so, added O’Toole.
