ONdigital soothes ‘irritation’
Melanie Reynolds Digital terrestrial TV company ONdigital has played down reports of problems with its set-top boxes. “It was a very small problem with a very small number of boxes which has been cured,” said a spokesman. The boxes became locked up when left on but could be reset if switched off and then on again. The symptom was described as “irritating” but only involved several hundred of the earliest boxes. ONdigital solved the problem by including a fix during a software download for subtitles. Philips and Pace Micro Technology are the two manufacturers currently supplying set-top boxes to Ondigital, which launched its digital TV service late last year.
