Parliamentary body aims to raise profile of engineering
Melanie Reynolds Raising the profile of engineering is the aim of a new Parliamentary body called the Associate Parliamentary Engineering Group (APEG). “We’re hoping government will take on board the matters we think are most important,” said Jennifer Lindley, secretary of APEG. The group will highlight the contribution that engineering makes to the UK economy and will seek to focus the attention of parliamentarians on key issues. “There’s a lot of talk about science and quite often the word engineering is left out. We want people always to think of engineering when they’re thinking of science,” said Lindley.
