Philips gets personal
Richard Ball reports on the latest semiconductors and products from CeBIT, in Hannover, GermanyPhilips launched its latest hand held personal organiser, the Nino. “We took the Velo handheld PC and repackaged it,” said Mariel van Tatenhove, senior marketing manager at Philips Electronics. “The Velo is for professional use, but the Nino is more personal. We need different devices for different people.” Nino is designed more as a data reference tool, storing addresses, a calendar and notes. Like Velo, it is based on Windows CE and input is through a pen and the touchscreen. Nino also has voice control.
