Psion slow to give five
Jon Mainwaring Palmtop computer manufacturer Psion is having difficulty meeting demand for its latest offering, the Psion 5. According to a spokesman for Dixons’ Heathrow Airport Terminal One shop, a priority outlet for the retailer, Psion 5s are “coming in in dribs and drabs”. On Monday, when Electronics Weekly spoke to the shop, it was out of stock of the devices. A Psion spokesman conceded that the company has been unable to satisfy demand. But he insisted it was policy to begin with small production runs of new technology devices until it is satisfied that there are no faults with the products. “We believe in starting off small and then ramping up production,” he said. Psion announces its interim results this week.
