QT buys optoelectronics arm
Richard Wilson Motorola Semiconductor is set to sell its optoelectronics business unit to QT Optoelectronics. The acquisition will effectively double the size of QT’s optocoupler business, putting it into the world’s top five suppliers of optocoupler products. If the deal goes ahead, which seems likely, QT will acquire all of the assets and technology for making Motorola’s optocoupler products, as well as Motorola’s existing contracts. Completion of the transaction is subject to the negotiation and execution of definitive agreements. In the interim, Motorola is committed to maintaining supply.
