Racal Defence Electronics is set to begin the first stage of recruitment for its communications division following last year’s award for the local areas system (LAS), part of the MoD’s Bowman contract.
“It has only kicked off just now. We will be taking more people on in the future but I can’t yet speculate as to how many,” said the division’s personnel officer, Phil Groom. The communications division was set up after Racal won the ?250m LAS contract with partner Thomson-CSF.
Racal is also looking to recruit staff for its instruments division, amounting to a total of over 40 jobs for the two businesses.
The need for new staff in the instruments division has been driven by growth in the company’s digital radio test systems and new satellite communications products.
