Government and industry is acting collectively to address the radio frequency (RF) engineering skills shortage in the country.
According to the DTI, over 20 companies are backing its radio communications skills initiative which has been dubbed; Ride the Waves.
The initial aim for the programme is to promote closer ties between relevant companies and local universities. In addition the DTI has said it will produce 50 extra RF engineering graduates a year “who can be employed immediately”.
There will also be a new Web site (www.rfeei.org.uk) to promote the programme and to exchange information on career opportunities in RF engineering.
