Rockwell dials 7 for GSM mobile market
Richard Ball Rockwell has entered the GSM mobile phone market with chipsets, a reference design and software. The seven chip system includes a baseband processor, analogue transceivers and the power amplifier. Software includes the complete protocol stack, real time operating system and application programming interface. To help customers get products to market, Rockwell will carry out all PCB design, testing and help the customer through type approval. If need be, the customer need only design the phone’s look. The transceiver supports both 900 or 1,800MHz operation. The design will be multi-band by the year end, says Rockwell.
