Screaming silicon…Roy Rubenstein US firm 3Dfx has unveiled its 2D/3D graphics accelerator IC called Voodoo Banshee. 3Dfx has gained a strong position in the PC graphic market with the success of its Voodoo Graphics and Voodoo2 3D chipsets. The result is that there are now over 250 games titles, with 400 predicted by Christmas, that are ready to run on the Banshee. The Banshee has a 128-bit external interface and a 256-bit internal datapath. Its has a screen fill rate performance of 100 million pixels/s.
