Sega hits back at 3Dfx lawsuit
Tom Foremski
Sega has responded to 3Dfx’s lawsuit and allegations that it planned to breach a multimillion dollar contract and disclose 3Dfx’s proprietary information. Sega says that as an investor in 3Dfx, it would not be “involved in any activities that would disclose 3Dfx’s proprietary information.”
Sega added that it has relationships with many technology partners and has always respected the proprietary rights of its partners. The company says it will aggressively defend itself against the 3Dfx lawsuit. 3Dfx claims that it has lost as much as $55 million in revenues because of the lost contract. Sega will use NEC’s graphic chip technology instead of 3Dfx.
