Mobile phone operator, Orange has predicted that a strong rise in the non-business user mobile phone market will boost business prospects over the next five years. In the last 12 months Orange, the UK’s third largest mobile phone operator behind Vodafone and Cellnet, saw subscriber numbers grow by 20 per cent.
Like other operators, Orange has announced a series of cuts in its tariffs to encourage wider use of mobile by consumers. The aim is to attain a 50 per cent penetration for mobile phone use among the population – over 25m UK users – by the 2004. The figure is currently around 15 per cent.
