Symbionics group sets up Bluetooth serviceSteve Bush
The Symbionics group of Cadence Design Systems has introduced a set of design services for the Bluetooth wireless standard and is also developing proprietary Bluetooth IC cores and protocol software.
For those wanting to create Bluetooth add-ons for existing products, the Symbionics’ wireless design group has worked with Ericsson to create the Ericsson Bluetooth developers kit. This is designed, distributed, and supported by Cadence.
The cores include the Bluetooth link management controller and CVSD voice coder. The software offerings include the link management protocol, host controller interface, logical link control and adaptation protocol. Cadence claims these have been designed to be portable across multiple microcontroller platforms and real-time operating systems.
