TI, 3Dlabs agree deal
Tom Foremski Texas Instruments (TI) and 3Dlabs have resolved their legal dispute, and expanded their relationship in the process. Until now, TI has been producing 3Dlabs’ Permedia graphics accelerator under a foundry agreement. “In the past we had a straight licensing agreement. It made no financial sense for TI to market Permedia,” said Osman Kent, president and CEO of 3Dlabs. “With the new licensing agreement it now makes good business sense for both partners to aggressively push Permedia 2.” The dispute arose after TI was alleged to have published confidential information belonging to the UK graphics company on its Web site.
