TSMC sees rise in sales
David Manners February 1998 sales at TSMC (Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company) – the world’s top silicon foundry – rose by 132.4 per cent compared to February 1997 to reach US$165m. TSMC attributed the rise to increased capacity and said it would add another 40 per cent to its manufacturing capacity this year. TSMC is in the second year of a planned ten-year expansion programme costing US$133bn. Profits have been stable for the last two years at US$0.5bn.
