UK firms motor into on-line terminal market

Amino Communications has teamed up with Fleetwood Electronics to develop mobile on-line information terminals for the growing market in automotive telematics.
The two companies have been working together since the beginning of last year to develop a fleet management application based on Amino’s on-line communications system technology. Product details are expected to be announced shortly.
Commenting on the joint venture, John Clarfelt, managing director of Fleetwood Electronics said: “Our joint development with Amino has enabled us to come to market very much more speedily.”
“Fleetwood Electronics has established its presence in the fleet vehicle market,” said Martyn Gilbert, Managing Director of Amino Communications. “We are very excited how their market positioning.”
In the UK there are some 420,000 HGVs, 2 million light goods vans, and 2.2 million company cars, for which the Fleetwood terminal, or a derivative thereof, would be applicable.
