US investigation into CD-ROM micro
Richard Wilson US authorities have been asked to investigate alleged patent infringement on a microcontroller used in CD-ROM drives. The investigation is based on a complaint filed by Californian company Oak Technology. It is alleged that certain controllers and products containing controllers being imported into the US, infringe two patents owned by Oak Technology. The investigating authority has identified four companies from Taiwan and Singapore as respondents in the investigation.
