The US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) is preparing to file an antitrust lawsuit against Intel, following a long investigation of the company, according to sources close to the FTC.
Two suits are in preparation. One is based on Intel withholding key information from customers, as in its recent legal dispute with Intergraph, while the other suit concerns Intel’s refusal to license the PC bus technology to rival chip set makers.
The first suit is likely to be filed within the next few weeks, while the second could be as much as a year away from being filed. Intel declined to comment on the reports.
Intergraph recently won a court order that forces Intel to reveal details of its future microprocessors. Intergraph has also filed an antitrust suit against Intel.
